OVERVIEW
Case Summary
- To design an Integrated System for the Administrator (Government Officials) that helps them to monitor and manage the traffic.
- To identify the key pain points of city traffic and how to tackle them to have a smooth ride.
Understanding the Problem
Cities with huge workforce, had to deal with thousands of cars running through their streets each day. Traffic congestion is a big problem for everyone within the city. Doesn’t matter how advanced the city is, but poor traffic management deteriorates the daily livelihood.
For the above problem, I listed the main pain points and started the process of gathering requirements to solve it.
Understanding the Process
The whole of the smart city is interconnected by some mechanism that will share the data to some database which should have the following distribution.
- City traffic would be distributed in zones, to manage the zonal congestions, violations etc.
- Mostly the usual traffic is accumulated near the above listed important buildings.
The way I understand the process of managing traffic is,
- The government can easily look up-to the main traffic jams and the incidents and can take actions like to deploy extra workforce to solve the issue.
- The traffic signals can communicate with each other to change the elapsed signal duration.
- Based on the weekly/monthly/quarterly data points, the audit can be done to improve the future traffic on road.
